Axis Bank has already established itself in the super-premium card market with cards like Axis Burgundy Private and Axis Reserve, and now the Primus Credit Card is another strong addition to this exclusive line-up. This invite-only card charges a joining fee of Rs. 5 Lakh and an annual fee of Rs. 3 Lakh, the highest in the market so far.
While consumers get the usual premium card benefits like unlimited lounge access, complimentary guest visits, and zero foreign exchange mark-up, what truly sets Axis Primus Credit Card apart are its exceptional luxury benefits. Cardholders enjoy exclusive privileges such as private jet access, flying safaris, ski vacations, invitations to elite events and private art exhibitions – privileges that redefine luxury in the Indian premium credit card market.

In case of super-premium cards, the reward benefits are often not the major highlight in comparison to the other benefits offered around travel and lifestyle. The reward-earning rate is usually low. However, Primus creates a great balance here with no restrictions on its rewards program and a high redemption value of 1:5—the best in the market and a real differentiating factor for the card. Travelers can fetch excellent returns through the Miles transfer program by redeeming the reward points for flights and hotel bookings.
Additionally, the unlimited free companion’s airfare on the purchase of first or business class tickets is an added advantage for frequent travelers. They can also reap great benefits via concierge service, an excluded feature from Axis Bank’s other premium credit cards.
Lifestyle benefits on Axis Primus Card are also no less than extraordinary. The card gives preferential access to 10,000+ global restaurants, including coveted tables at the world’s top Michelin-starred restaurants, a niche that remains untouched by any other premium credit card in the market. Unlimited golf games feature, shared with the add-on cardholders, adds to its premium appeal.
As much as travellers can save on their flights, the hotel stay benefit on Primus fall short compared to other premium cards like Axis Reserve, Burgundy Private, IDFC FIRST Private, and American Express Platinum Charge Card. Most of these cards offer multiple hotel memberships whereas Primus users will only get Taj Epicure membership, despite a significant difference in the annual fee. However, travellers can still fetch good value on ITC, Marriott International, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, etc. by smartly utilizing the accumulated reward points.
Axis Bank already targets the needs of affluent clientele with its ‘Burgundy Private Banking Program’. Axis Primus, however, goes way beyond, catering to the ultra HNIs. Much like the Amex Centurion card, the Primus card is likely to have only a few thousand users over its lifetime.
Axis Primus is currently offered only to a select few hundred high-net-worth individuals in Delhi and Mumbai.
