There are two ways to update Aadhaar, one through the Self Service Update Portal (SSUP) and the other by visiting the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. You can get your details in Aadhaar card updated by visiting a nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. You can follow the steps mentioned below to change the photo in Aadhaar card/for Aadhar photo update:
Step 1: Visit a nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centre/ Aadhaar Sewa Kendra
Step 2: Download the Aadhaar Enrolment/Correction/Update Form from UIDAI’s website
Step 3: Fill the form with due diligence
Step 4: Submit your form to the executive and provide your biometric details
Step 5: Now, the executive will take your live photograph
Step 6: You will have to provide biometrics to approve your details
Step 7: A fee of Rs. 100 will have to be paid to get the details updated
Step 8: You will get an Acknowledgement slip containing the URN
Step 9: The Update Request Number (URN) can be used to check the UIDAI Aadhaar update status
Note: At present, there is no provision to do an Aadhar photo update online.
Step 1: On the UIDAI website click on “Check Aadhaar Update Status” under the Update you Aadhaar section.
Step 2: Select the URN option and enter your URN, captcha code that you see on screen and click on the “Submit” button to know the status of your photo update request.

Once your Aadhar card photo change request is processed, you can download the updated Aadhaar card online. Follow the steps mentioned below to download the updated Aadhaar Card:
Step 1: Visit the official website page of Aadhar at https://uidai.gov.in/
Step 2: Go to the ‘My Aadhaar’ section
Step 3: Click on the ‘Download Aadhaar’ option listed under Get Aadhaar
Step 5: On the next page, enter your Aadhaar Number, Enrolment ID, or Virtual ID
Step 6: Enter the captcha and click on ‘Send OTP’
Step 7: Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number and tick my the check box if you want a Masked Aadhaar card
Step 8: Now, click on ‘Verify & Download’ to download a PDF of your e-Aadhaar card
Note: You can choose to download a normal Aadhaar card or a Masked Aadhaar Card. However, you will also have to refresh your Aadhaar details in the mAadhaar app after the update. Aadhaar data has to be updated in the DigiLocker app as well.
