Compatibility of mAadhaar
- As of now, mAadhaar can be installed on all smartphones working on Android 5.0 and above.
- UIDAI has not released the iOS variant of the mAadhaar app.
- It is currently working on the bugs and will release the app for iPhone users in near future.
- mAadhaar can be installed on all Android phones, however, only that profile can be added in the app which is linked with the mobile number being used in the phone.

How to Install mAadhaar in your Mobile Phone
mAadhaar app can be installed only on Android smartphones. You have to follow these simple steps to download and install the mAadhaar app to your smartphone:

It is worth noting that your mobile number should be linked with Aadhaar otherwise you will not be able to avail this facility. You have to follow these steps to lock or unlock biometrics using mAadhaar:
Step 1: Open the mAadhaar app in your phone
Step 2: Login by entering your password
Step 3: Click on your profile and open it
Step 4: Click on the “Biometric Settings” from the menu on top-right corner of the app
Step 5: Tick the “Enable Biometric Lock” option
Step 6: A disclaimer is shown which says that the biometrics may still be used for the next six hours
Step 7: Click on “OK”
Step 8: An OTP is sent to the registered mobile number
Step 9: The OTP is automatically fed by the app
Step 10: Your biometrics will be locked immediately
In order to unlock your biometrics temporarily, follow these steps:
Step 1: Go to the top-right menu and click on “Biometric Settings”
Step 2: A message is displayed, “Your biometrics will be temporarily unlocked.”
Step 3: Click on “Yes”
Step 4: Your biometrics will be unlocked for 10 minutes
Step 5: If you want to disable the biometric lock, you can do it by visiting the UIDAI’s website.
How to Use the TOTP Feature in the mAadhaar App
There are instances where you need the Aadhaar OTP to avail various facilities. But due to network or some other issues, you do not receive the OTP on your registered mobile number. UIDAI has introduced the Time-based OTP that is valid only for 30 seconds. The TOTP gets changed automatically every 30 seconds. In order to use this service, the user should have an active internet connection. Here’s how you can use the TOTP through the mAadhaar app:
Step 1: Login to your mAadhaar app by entering your password
Step 2: Select your profile and open it
Step 3: In the lower half of the app, select the option “Show TOTP”
Step 4: A new screen will appear with a six digit TOTP
Step 5: A clock moves continuously for 30 seconds
Step 6: As soon as 30 seconds gets completed, the OTP is changed instantly
Step 7: Below the TOTP, you can find your name and Aadhaar number
