Key Highlights of ICICI Bank Manchester United Credit Cards
Benefits for the Fans of Manchester United
The welcome benefits on the two cards are:
Manchester United Signature Credit Card – 1 Manchester United (MUFC) holdall and 1 MUFC Football
Manchester United Platinum Credit Card – 1 MUFC Football. You will get the football when you pay the joining fee and spend at least Rs. 1,000 per month for the first 3 months of card issuance via the Manchester United Platinum Credit Card.
Manchester United Experience
The benefits given below are provided on both the variants.
Benefits for the Top Spender:
- Every month the topmost spender will get a signed MUFC jersey and a match ticket
- Top 18 spenders per month will get a ‘Manchester United Experience’ which includes:
- A private tour of the MUFC stadium and museum located in Stretford, England
- Chance to watch some parts of the First Team Squad as they train
- Get to visit the Manchester United Megastore located at the stadium
Benefits for Top 100 Spenders:
- Top 100 spenders from both variants will get Manchester United shirts
Benefits for all Customers
- Get 10% discount on items bought from Manchester United’s online store, megastore situated at the stadium and at Red Café situated at Old Trafford, Manchester
- Get 20% discount when making an advance booking to the Manchester United museum and tour
All these benefits are suitable only for Manchester United Fans. If you aren’t a MUFC fan or aren’t into football, then these benefits might not suit you. Also, the free match ticket is given to the top 18 spenders. Because of this condition, most of the fans won’t be able to secure a ticket to the matches. Still, you may go for the card if you want the free merchandise. However, given the terms and conditions associated with the offer you will be better off buying the merchandise separately.
ICICI Bank Privileges on the Cards
The common privileges extended to cardholders of both the variants are:
BookMyShow/INOX Offer – Get 2 free tickets via ‘Buy One Get One Free’ offer. You can get up to 2 free tickets per month. The free ticket discount is of Rs. 300. If the ticket is more expensive then you will have to pay the remaining amount along with convenience fee.
Culinary Treats Program – Save up to 15% on dining bills at over 2,500 partner restaurants in India.
Fuel Surcharge Waiver – Get 1% fuel surcharge waiver on fuel purchases below Rs. 4,000. This offer can be availed at only Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) Fuel Pumps.
Lounge Access – The Visa Lounge Access differs on the two credit cards. They are given in the following manner:
- Manchester United Signature Credit Card – 2 free accesses to domestic airport lounges per quarter.
- Manchester United Platinum Credit Card – 1 free access to domestic airport lounges per quarter.
The benefits associated with the Platinum variant, as compared to other cards in the same fee range, are good enough. The signature variant, on the other hand, fares poorly when compared to other credit cards in its category. The signature variant’s annual fee is Rs. 2,500 and, for this annual fee, credit cards usually offer international lounge access, free Priority Pass Membership, concierge service and much more.
Besides this, the signature credit cardholders don’t get many benefits over the platinum edition.
You earn PAYBACK points every time you spend Rs. 100 via the credit card. The reward points associated with the two credit cards are:
|Transaction Type||Manchester United Signature Credit Card||Manchester United Platinum Credit Card|
|Domestic||2 points per Rs. 100||3 points per Rs. 100|
|International||2 points per Rs. 100||4 points per Rs. 100|
|Manchester United Match Days||3 points per Rs. 100||5 points per Rs. 100|

Should You Apply for ICICI Bank Manchester United Credit Cards?
The ICICI Bank Manchester United credit cards are for MUFC fans as the value of the cards comes from its association with the football club. Fans of the club will definitely love this but other users won’t find much use of the card.
A point to remember is that the free match ticket is given to the top spender. Therefore, most users won’t be able to get a ticket. On top of this, even if you get a free ticket you will have to foot the travelling expenses. The match ticket prices start from around Rs. 3,000 and may go up to about Rs. 6,000 whereas a round trip from Delhi to Manchester England may cost you upwards of Rs. 60,000. So, even the free match ticket starts to lose its attraction when you take into account all the additional expenses. So the free match ticket will only be beneficial if you happen to be in Manchester, England on the day of the match which is a distinct possibility.
Given all this, you may still apply for the card if you are truly a fan of Manchester United Football Club and want to show your support. Otherwise, we would not recommend these credit cards for shopping, travel or any other purpose. We suggest you identify what type of spends you generally make and then go for a credit card that best rewards it.
Which Credit Card to go for?
The cards differ in the lounge accesses that they provide and the PAYBACK points offered. The difference in PAYBACK points earned is almost negligible if you don’t spend a lot via the cards. The difference in the lounge accesses won’t matter too if you don’t frequently travel domestically.
Moreover, for the top spender rewards, both Platinum Card users and Signature Card users are put in the same pool. Since the Signature Card can be availed by people with high income, they are also likely to spend more on the card. In such a scenario, Platinum Cardholders (people with lower income at hand and lower spending on the card) have a meagre chance of making it to the list of Top Spenders.
If you are looking for a new credit card and would not be looking forward to the top spender rewards, the Platinum variant can be a better choice than the Signature edition. On the other hand, if you believe you can easily spend Rs. 2.50 lakh in an anniversary year then you may choose the Signature variant as you won’t have to pay the annual fee along with getting certain extra privileges.
Drawbacks of Manchester United Credit Cards
The main selling point of the card is that it has a Manchester United Football Club’s branding. There are other features as well but those fall short when compared to other cards in the market. The most prominent flaws with the card are:
- The match ticket and free signed jerseys are given to top spenders. The bank could have at least given the ticket and jersey randomly to cardholders
- The lounge access is limited only to the domestic lounges and there are no international lounge visits
- The waiver condition for Manchester United credit cards is quite high
A comparison of few credit cards along with their annual fee, waiver conditions and top features is given below:

|Annual Fee||Platinum – Rs. 499|
Signature – Rs. 2,499
|Titanium – Rs. 500|

(Amount must be spent in an anniversary year)
|Platinum – Spend Rs. 1.25 lakh|

|Titanium – Spend Rs. 1.50 lakh|
Platinum – Spend Rs 2.50 lakh

The Manchester United credit cards can be enjoyed mostly by fans of the football club. As there are no other MUFC credit cards in the market you can choose amongst the two. The card does provide other benefits; but, given its annual fee and waiver conditions, the card is not at all a good match for the non-MUFC fans.
