An Aadhaar Card is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the UIDAI on behalf of the government to every resident of India. This page covers list of Aadhar card documents required for Aadhaar Card correction, Aadhaar Card update, and address update as well.
You have to visit an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or an Aadhar Sewa Kendra to enrol for a new Aadhaar card. You are asked to provide your demographic and biometric details at the time of enrolment. Apart from these details, you need to submit the document proof that verifies your details mentioned in the Aadhaar Enrolment Form.

There are various documents required for Aadhaar card for resident Indians and these would be required even while making any correction in the Aadhaar card later. It is recommended to carry all original document proof at the time of Aadhaar enrolment or Aadhaar update.

Documents that contain the proof of residing address of the applicant are one of the most important documents to be submitted to the authorized Aadhaar centre. These documents must be proper because the Aadhar card is sent to the address specified by the applicant in the form. If the applicant fails to present the correct address proof or update the same, he may not receive the Aadhaar card. The list of documents required for issuing Aadhaar cards for children is similar to that for a normal applicant. However, one of the parents has to provide their Aadhaar copy in addition to the documents required by normal applicants for obtaining a child’s Aadhaar card.

It has to be kept in mind that applying for a new Aadhaar card is purely voluntary on the part of the individual and not compulsory. Also, failing to submit all the requisite documents gives UIDAI the power to revoke the issuance of the Aadhaar card anytime they like.
