Withdrawing funds from ATMs is going to become more convenient now. As per media reports, NCR (National Cash Register) Corporation has announced that it is upgrading the system of withdrawing cash from ATMs. This means that they are bringing in Interoperable Cardless Cash Withdrawal (ICCW) which will allow users to withdraw cash from ATMs via UPI apps without using the debit card or credit cards.

This is will save users from crisis like lost cards, declined transactions due to incorrect PIN and taking cards to ATMs. With everything becoming digitalised in today’s time, this upgrade will ease out ATM visits.

Some pre-requisites to withdraw money via UPI:

  • An ATM machine having UPI service
  • Any UPI-based payment app like GPay, PhonePe, BHIM, etc.
  • Should have a working internet connection

Steps to withdraw funds without ATM Card:

Step 1– Head to any ATM machine and choose “Withdraw Cash” option

Step 2– Choose the UPI option on the ATM machine screen

Step 3– You will be shown a QR code on the ATM screen

Step 4– Now, open any UPI payment app on your phone and turn on the QR scanner code

Step 5– Once you have scanned the code, enter the amount you want to withdraw (up to Rs. 5,000 as of now)

Step 6– Click on proceed and enter the UPI PIN to withdraw the money.
