How to Link Aadhaar with LIC Policy

Note: Linking Aadhaar with LIC policy is no longer mandatory and the facility to link Aadhaar with LIC policies online has been discontinued till further notice.

LIC has started providing a number of facilities online. Linking insurance policies with Aadhaar is one such service provided by the organisation. However, you need to furnish your PAN as well to avail this facility. Also, you need to be a registered online user of the organisation. In case you have not already registered for availing online facilities, you have to register with the organisation and then you can link Aadhaar card with your policies online. Follow these steps to link LIC policy to Aadhar card online:

1. Visit the https://www.licindia.in/Home
2. Select the image “Link Aadhaar and PAN to LIC Policies – on or before 31.03.2018”
3. Read the information carefully and click on the “Proceed” button
4. Fill your details such as name, date of birth, father’s name, gender, PAN, Aadhaar, policy number and e-mail address.
5. Read the disclaimer and tick it
6. Enter the captcha code and click on “Get OTP”
7. An OTP will be sent to your mobile number registered with Aadhaar
8. Enter this OTP and click on “Submit”
9. Your request will be submitted
10. The data is sent to UIDAI’s CIDR for verification
11. After proper verification, your LIC policy is linked with Aadhaar and PAN
12. A confirmation message will be sent to your registered mobile number and e-mail address

People who have not registered for online services with LIC can link their policies with Aadhaar through offline process as well. This is useful for those people as well who do not have a PAN card. People who do not have PAN can link their policies with Aadhaar by submitting Form – 60. Here’s how you can link your LIC policy with Aadhaar:

1. Carry your Aadhaar card, PAN/Form 60 and all policy documents
2. You can download the Aadhaar/PAN Mandate Form from LIC’s website. You can also get this form at any LIC office
3. Fill the form mentioning your Aadhaar number, PAN and other details
4. Visit a nearby LIC office and submit the Aadhaar/PAN Mandate form along with the self-attested copies of your proofs
5. Carry your original Aadhaar card and PAN card as well. You can be asked to show the original copies of Aadhaar and PAN for verification
6. The form will be accepted by the executive
7. After verification from UIDAI, your Aadhaar and PAN will be linked with your LIC policy
8. A confirmation message will be sent to you on successful Aadhaar linking with your LIC policy

Before you go for linking your LIC policy with Aadhaar and PAN, you should remember the following points:

• Keep all details of your PAN, Aadhaar and LIC insurance policies handy
• You have to mention the mobile number that is registered with UIDAI. If you have not registered your mobile number with Aadhaar, it is best advisable that you get it done first to avail all Aadhaar-based online facilities
• A successful request submission message is sent to you after placing the request
• LIC verifies the data with UIDAI. When UIDAI reverts in affirmation, the Aadhaar and PAN is linked with your policies
• A confirmation message is sent to the mobile number/email id on successful Aadhaar linking

Q1. How much time will it take to get the confirmation mail?

Once UIDAI completes the verification process, you will receive an SMS as well as an email on your registered mobile number within a few working days.

Q2. Whose Aadhaar should be linked in case of joint policyholders?

In case of joint policyholders, it is enough to link the primary policyholder’s Aadhaar number with the LIC policy.

Q4. What are the advantages of LIC Aadhar link?

It is not mandatory to link Aadhaar with LIC policies. However, LIC Aadhar link can be beneficial for policyholders for the following reasons:

• Identification and authentication of your identity using your Aadhaar card details gets easier when your policies are linked to Aadhaar. It would also help LIC avoid fraudulent claims.

You can update/link PAN with LIC policy online by following the steps given below:

1. Visit the PAN LIC policy linking page 
2. Enter the necessary details including your PAN, email, mobile number, policy number, etc.
3. Agree to the terms, fill in the captcha that you see on screen and click on “Get OTP”
4. Enter the OTP that you receive on your mobile number and submit the form to complete the registration request.
