Changing Address in Aadhaar Online without Documents

If you have moved recently and do not have an appropriate proof of address yet, you can get this updated on your Aadhaar card using an Address Validation Letter. The address validation letter can be obtained online from a “Verifier” so you do not need to submit any documents or visit an Aadhaar Enrollment Centre to complete this task. Other Aadhaar details you can update without Documents

In the recent UIDAI notification, it is now confirmed that some key personal details in the UIDAI Aadhaar database can now be updated without the necessity of submitting supporting documents. These details include the following: PhotoBiometric Data (Fingerprints/Retinal scans)GenderMobile NumberEmail AddressYou have to visit an Aadhaar Enrollment Centre in person and carry your existing Aadhaar card in order to get these updates made. You will also be required to pay a nominal fee at the time of requesting this update.

Aadhaar Details that Require Additional Documentation

When requesting certain changes to your Aadhaar data, you are still required to mandatorily provide self-attested copies of supporting documents such as Passport, Driving License, Voter ID card, etc. Aadhaar card details that can only be changed if supporting documents are provided include:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Address Update (if no Address Validation Letter is available/obtained)
    New Aadhaar Application (available only at enrolment centre)
