RBL Platinum Maxima is a semi-premium credit card offered by RBL Bank that provides complimentary domestic lounge access, movie benefits, and spend-based milestone benefits. Let us have an unbiased analysis of the RBL Platinum Maxima credit card in detail and find out whether you should go for this card having an annual fee of Rs. 2,000 + GST or opt for other cards.
Key Highlights of RBL Platinum Maxima Credit Card |
|
When you opt for RBL Platinum Maxima credit card, you will get 8,000 Reward Points as joining benefits. The value of the reward points eventually comes down to Rs. 2,000 which you can redeem for flight tickets, hotel stays, voucher redemption or gifts from the RBL Rewards catalog.
However, you will have to use your credit card within 30 days of issuance to avail the welcome benefits.
The rewards program for this card is relatively better as you can earn more than 70,000 reward points in a calendar year on this card. The best thing about Reward Program is that you get 5X reward points on fuel spend as well. This is not the case for most of the cards in the category. But this should not be the sole reason to opt for this credit card.
You get 5X accelerated rewards for spending on entertainment, dining, fuel, utility payments and international spending. For every Rs. 100 spent in this category, you will earn 10 Reward Points. For all other spendings, you will earn 2 Reward Points for every Rs. 100 spent.
The more you spend, more will be your savings. When you reach the annual spending milestone of Rs. 2.5 Lakh, you get 10,000 bonus reward points. On spending Rs. 3.5 Lakh or more, you can earn another 10,000 reward points.
The total amount earned in value would come to be Rs. 5,000 which is quite a good amount for semi-premium credit cards. However, there is no annual fee waiver on this credit card. So you will have to pay the renewal fee every year.
RBL credit cards are known to offer relatively better movie benefits. With RBL Platinum Maxima credit cards, you get a discount of up to Rs. 200 on booking more than one movie ticket every month. This comes to Rs. 2,400 in a year. However, if you are a movie buff, you can opt for RBL Popcorn credit card through which you can get up to two movie tickets free every month.
The domestic lounge access program is offered by MasterCard. You get two complimentary domestic lounge accesses every quarter at almost all domestic airports in India. However, there are no international lounge accesses for this card. If you frequent to international destinations quite often, you can opt for HDFC Diners Club Privilege credit card that offers up to 12 complimentary international lounge accesses every year.
RBL Platinum Maxima credit card provides 5X reward points on international spend which comes down to 10 Reward Points on every Rs. 100 spent. If converted in values, it would be Rs. 2.5 earned on every Rs. 100. It looks like a good deal but the catch is that you would be charged a foreign currency conversion fee of 3.5% + GST on it, effectively going to approximately 4%. Thus, you will eventually end up paying 1.5% on international spending. You can go with the RBL Bank World Safari credit card instead that offers zero foreign currency conversion fees.
