Bank Timings in India 2025 – Lunch Timings, Saturday Timings

Banks usually open around 9:30 AM and close at 5:30 PM. However, there are some banks that are open to customers for only six hours from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Hence, it is recommended that one should find out the bank’s working hours before visiting the branch.

It is to be noted that banks may have different operating hours on weekends.

One can conduct financial, as well as, non-financial business with the bank during the bank’s working hours. All the services that banks offers can be availed during these hours.

Banks do not close down during lunch hours. Customers can visit the bank at any time during the bank’s working hours. Bank employees take their lunch break in batches so that the work is not affected. Usually they take a lunch break between 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. However, these timings may vary from bank to bank.

NEFT working hours are determined by the Reserve Bank of India. From 16 December 2019, NEFT has been made a 24×7 available service for the customers. The system will be available on all days of the year, including holidays. This includes 48 half-hourly settlement batches starting from – 00:30 hours to 00:00 hours.

NEFT is a nationwide payment system facilitating one to one funds transfer. Individuals can transfer funds from one account to another account in any bank that is participating in this scheme.

Under Real Time Gross Settlement, RTGS, funds are transferred in real time. This means that the funds are transferred as soon as the instructions are received. RBI has made the transfer of funds through the Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system available to the customers 24×7 on all days of the week.
