Following are the components of HDFC Bank credit card statement
Statement Period: The duration for which the credit card payment has to be made. The statement period can be found in the top right-hand corner of the credit card statement.
Payment Due Date: This basically acts as the deadline by which you should pay the amount due to the bank. If any payment is made later than this date, you will be eligible to pay fees for the same. The late payment not only incurs charges but also negatively impacts your credit score.
Total Amount Due: The total amount due section represents the total amount that is due as of the statement date. The opening balance, new purchases, fees, and other finance charges are included in this amount.
Minimum Amount Due: A minimum amount due to the bank has to be provided every month, which is a portion of the total amount due. This amount usually turns varies between 2-3% of the total dues owed. You might have to pay a fine as well for remitting anything less than this amount.
Closing Balance: There is another section, which is the closing balance of the card. It implies the total amount which is due on the card. If you want to pay off your entire debt every month, then this is the amount you’ll need to pay. Ideally, it should be minimal at the end of each cycle.
Interest-free period: This is the timeframe between the date of the transaction and the payment due date of the billing cycle when you are not charged any interest against the transaction amount.
Current Outstanding Balance: It is the total amount of the money that you are liable to pay to the bank at a certain point in time. It is calculated on the basis of your previous month’s expenses on your credit card.
Transaction History: A transaction history basically provides a quick reference to all the transactions made during the billing cycle. This can be verified by similarly occurring transactions in the section.
Reward points: You can see the details of the reward points earned and redeemed which is mentioned at the end of your HDFC Bank card statement.
