As you can see in the above table that HDFC Regalia does not offer any welcome benefits, whereas with HDFC Millennia, you will get 1,000 Cash Points (reward points) as a welcome benefit after the payment of the joining fee. Hence, the welcome benefit provided by HDFC Millennia justifies the joining fee of Rs. 1,000.
However, HDFC Regalia comes with a high joining fee as compared to Millennia and still does not offer any welcome benefits, this might turn away a lot of users. Overall, in terms of welcome benefits, HDFC Millennia would be a better choice rather than HDFC Regalia, as you will receive the welcome benefits worth the joining fee.
Both HDFC Millennia and HDFC Regalia work on a different model, Millennia is a cashback credit card, whereas Regalia lets you earn reward points on every purchase. With HDFC Millennia, you can earn up to 5% cashback on your purchases at Amazon, BookMyShow, Cult.fit, Flipkart, Myntra, Sony LIV, Swiggy, Tata CLiQ, Uber and Zomato. For all other categories and expenses, you can avail 1% cashback via this credit card. Also, this cashback is offered in the form of Cash Points, which you can later redeem against your statement balance and you are restricted to avail a maximum cashback of Rs. 1,000 in a month.
On the other hand, HDFC Regalia rewards its users with 4 reward points on every Rs. 150 spent on the retail category. You can redeem your earned reward points for flight or hotel bookings, Airmiles conversion, products and vouchers via net banking. Additionally, you can also redeem your reward points against cashback at the value of 1 Reward Point = Re. 0.20, which is lower as compared to the direct cashback offered by some of the best cashback credit cards.
In general, if you want to avail cashback instead of reward points then Millennia would be a right choice for you. However, the drawback might be that this cashback is offered in the form of Cash Points, but you can redeem Cash Points at the value of 1 Cash Point = Re. 1, against your statement balance. Alternatively, if your goal is to earn reward points along with premium benefits, then you can go for HDFC Regalia Credit Card. Both the cards work on a different model, you can opt for any one of them based on your requirements.
When it comes to lounge access, both credit cards offer complimentary lounge access to their users. With HDFC Millennia Credit Card, you can avail 8 complimentary domestic airport lounge access every year, with a maximum limit of 2 visits per quarter. However, Rs. 2 or Rs. 25 will be charged per swipe on your Millennia Credit Card towards lounge access, depending upon your card type (Visa, RuPay, Mastercard or Diners).
If we look at HDFC Regalia Credit Card, it gives you complimentary domestic as well as international lounge access every year. You can avail 12 complimentary domestic airport lounge access every year at both domestic and international terminals. Additionally, after completing 4 retail transactions, you can apply for Priority Pass Membership with Regalia Credit Card. Using this, you can avail up to 6 complimentary international airport lounge access every year for you and your add-on member.
Apart from the international lounge access, HDFC Regalia also wins in terms of foreign currency transaction fees. Regalia charges a low foreign currency markup fee, which stands at 2% as compared to 3.5% for HDFC Millennia. Overall, in terms of travel benefits, HDFC Regalia is definitely a winner for international travelers as it offers both domestic and international lounge access along with a low forex markup fee. However, if you are not a frequent international traveler and looking for a credit card that offers domestic lounge access, then you can opt for HDFC Millennia Credit Card.
