10 Best HDFC Bank Credit Cards in India | Check Your Eligibility for Top Credit Cards
First, let’s talk about rewards. With a reward rate of 3.33% (potentially reaching 33% for purchases made on SmartBuy), Infinia outshines not just premium cards but even luxury cards with very high annual fee, such as Axis Reserve and IDFC FIRST Private. Mainly, Infinia’s 1:1 redemption value for travel bookings via SmartBuy and Air Mile conversion gives it an edge over its competitors. Despite impressive earn rates, Infinia’s competitors like Axis Magnus and Yes Marquee fall short due to poor redemption values.
Infinia also stands strong on the travel front with unlimited domestic and international lounge access, low forex mark-up fee and benefits with ITC and Marriott. Most premium cards offer comparable travel benefits. However, considering the overall value that one can get through the rewards program, Infinia could be a better choice.
However, a couple of things could have been better. Offering a spend-based renewal option for Club Marriott membership would have helped users avail benefits beyond the first year. At 2%, the forex mark-up charges are on the higher side, as compared to premium cards like Yes Marquee (1%) or even mid-range options like IDFC FIRST Wealth (1.5%).
To sum up, HDFC Infinia continues to set the benchmark for premium credit cards in India, notwithstanding a few niche alternatives like Axis Magnus for Burgundy.
Interestingly, HDFC Bank’s another premium card- HDFC Diners Club Black Metal Edition- provides almost identical benefits as Infinia at a marginally lower annual fee of Rs. 10,000. In addition to the Club Marriott membership, DC Black also provides Amazon Prime and Swiggy One membership as welcome benefit. The card also features a milestone benefit of 10,000 bonus rewards on reaching quarterly milestone of Rs. 4 Lakh. Since DC Black is not an invite-only card, consumers who could not qualify for Infinia can consider applying for this card. The minimum income requirement for DC Black is Rs. 1.75 Lakh per month.
