Should you get this card?
HDFC Moneyback+ is a good entry-level card as it comes with easy income eligibility of Rs. 25,000 per month and offers benefits on some of the most practical everyday categories. It covers groceries with BigBasket offer, lifestyle expenditure with Flipkart and Amazon, dining with Swiggy and other departmental store purchases via Reliance Smart SuperStore. This card is also great for someone looking to make high-ticket purchases on EMIs as, unlike many other cards, it offers accelerated rewards on EMI transactions as well.
The closest competitor of this card are HDFC’s two other cards- Moneyback and Millennia. HDFC Moneyback is good for overall online spends but the reward rate is not impressive as compared to the Moneyback+ variant. On the other hand, HDFC Millennia is quite an impressive alternative as the rewards to cashback ratio also stands strong at 1:1. However, HDFC Millennia charges double the fee at Rs. 1,000.
There are two main drawbacks to HDFC Moneyback+ Credit Card:
- It does not offer any travel benefits, nor does it offer accelerated earnings on any popular travel brand.
- Groceries and fuel are among the two high expense categories for everyone but this card does not offer any rewards on fuel and the earnings on grocery spends are also capped at 1,000 reward points.
Hence, you should consider getting this card, if:
- You frequently make purchases from the partner brands- Flipkart, Amazon, Swiggy, etc.
- You are not looking for travel benefits or already have a travel credit card
- You want a card that offers benefits in the form of reward points and does not charge high annual fee
- You already have a credit card for fuel
