After demonetisation in India, which occurred in 2016, the prevailing financial scenario took a turn towards digitalisation. The change led to the introduction of various digital payment systems centralising the use of e-wallets and plastic money. Amidst the new banking system, Unified Payment Interface (UPI) came to be known as the most effective and convenient digital platform.
