Launched on 25th October 2019 in Lucknow, Kanya Sumangala Yojana is a flagship scheme for families having a girl child/children. Under this scheme, families having a girl child will be provided Rs. 15,000. Read more about this scheme in this article.

What is the Eligibility for Kanya Sumangala Yojana?

The eligibility criteria for Kanya Sumangala Yojana specifies the following points-

• Permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh
• Only two daughters in a family can be benefitted from the scheme
• Accounts can be opened within 6 months of birth of the girl child
• The family income must not exceed Rs. 3 Lakh
• Families with adopted girl child are also eligible for the scheme
• In case there are twin girls in a family, the third girl child can also enroll

Features of Kanya Sumangala Yojana

• The beneficiary will receive Rs.15000 in total by the State Government
• There are 6 installments with equal amount credited in favor of the girl child

Here is an insight of the installments in which the scheme amount is presented to the beneficiary:

2	Rs. 1000	After the girl child gets vaccinated in the 1st year of birth

5	Rs. 3000	On the admission of girl child in 9th standard
6	Rs. 5000	Credited after the girl has passed 10th/12th standard & admitted in Bachelor’s degree or Diploma course

Documents Required for Kanya Sumangala Yojana

Following documents must be submitted to get enrolled for the scheme-

• Parent/Guardian’s Aadhaar Card
• Ration Card
• Bank Details and Passbook
• Proof of annual income
• Passport size photos of the Parents and Girl Child
• In case of adopted girl child, the certificate of adoption must be submitted

How to open a Kanya Sumangala Yojana account?

Applications for Kanya Sumangala Yojana are now being accepted and accounts can be opened online on the official Chief Minister kanya Sumangala Yojana website. Follow the given instructions to get your daughter enrolled under the scheme-

• Go to the official website
• Now, click on “Apply Here” in the Citizen’s Service Portal
• Existing users can enter their Login ID, Password and click on ‘Sign In’. If you are a new user, you must read the terms and conditions and then click on ‘I Agree’ (on the redirected page) to Sign-up
• Now, fill the registration form and click on ‘Send OTP’ to verify
• On the next page, you will have to verify by entering the OTP received on the provided mobile number
• After that, login on the website by entering your ID and Password
• Now, fill the Kanya Sumangala Yojana registration form with all the required details and click to ‘Submit’
