There are multiple variables that decide the credit limit on your PNB credit card. The major factors are discussed below.
Income and Debts: The income earned impacts the credit limit but it is not the only deciding factor. Current debts also affect credit limit
Credit Score: Higher credit limit is given to the cardholder whose credit score is good over a long period. The bank does not give higher credit limit to those cardholders whose credit score is poor or who have defaulted on payments
Other Credit Limit: PNB will also inquire about users other credit card credit limits
Punjab National Bank shall, at its exclusive discretion, determine the credit limit of its credit card. At the time of delivery of the card, the credit limit is notified to the cardholder. If a cardholder wishes to increase the credit limit, he shall write to the bank to ask the credit limit to be increased. The cardholder must provide financial documents such as bank statement, salary slip, income tax returns, etc. when applying for an increase. However, the bank has the final say on the matter.
When can I know the credit limit?
The credit limit is shared with the user at the time of credit card receiving.
I have recently got a salary increment can I apply for a credit limit increase?
Yes, you may apply for a credit limit increase. However, we suggest you wait and accumulate three salary slips or three months deposit before applying for a credit limit increase.
Can I spend over the credit card limit?
The bank might allow users to go over the credit limit. However, they might have to pay an over limit fee.
Can a bank reduce the card’s credit limit at its own behest?
Yes, however, the cardholder will be informed via SMS/ e-mail when the credit limit of the credit card has been reduced.
