HDFC Bank offers a variety of credit cards for different individual needs. You can get any of the credit cards as per your eligibility and requirements. However, in order to use your credit card, you are required to activate it either online or offline. Here is how to activate HDFC credit card:

As per the guidelines issued by the RBI, you are required to activate your HDFC credit card within 30 days of receiving it. In case you do not activate your card within the given period, a grace period of 7 days will be given to you and your card will be closed right after the grace period ends. You can activate HDFC credit card by the following ways:

You can simply activate your credit card by using it for online and offline transactions. You are required to make at least an online as well as offline transaction within 30 days of receiving it to activate your card. For offline transactions, your card must be swiped at the PoS machine to keep it active. Additionally, you can also earn exclusive activation benefits on your HDFC Credit Card as per its variant.

The bank also allows you to activate your credit card by enabling it for contactless, international and online transactions in order to activate it. You can enable your card for such transactions online through MyCards, Whatsapp or Eva. Here are the details regarding the same:
Through MyCards:
To enable your credit card through MyCards, you are required to follow the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Visit the official website of MyCard, i.e., Mycards.hdfcbank.com.
Step 2: Log in using OTP and link your credit card to enable it.
Step 3: Click on the ‘Card Control’ tab.
Step 4: Enable online, contactless and international transactions.
Step 5: Your card will be successfully activated and you can use it for online and offline transactions.
Through Whatsapp Banking:
You can also send a Whatsapp message and enable your credit card for online, contactless and international transactions. Send a message ‘Manage My Credit Card’ to 7070022222 to enable your credit card. After this, you are required to follow the steps as per your requirements to activate your card.
Through EVA:
You can also use Eva (personal assistant on the bank’s website) to enable your card for online, contactless and international transactions. You can chat with it by sending ‘Manage My Credit Card’. After this, you have to make a selection as per your requirement from the options available on the screen and enable your card.

To activate HDFC credit card, you can set a four-digit PIN and use it for future transactions. Here are the ways through which you can set the credit card PIN:
Through ATM: You can visit any of the nearest HDFC Bank ATMs and set your four-digit PIN by using a green PIN that you receive on your registered mobile number.
Through IVR: You can also contact HDFC Credit Card customer care and follow the instructions given by IVR to activate your card for future transactions. However, you are required to enter your card number and validate through OTP to set your preferred PIN.
Through Net Banking: For HDFC credit card PIN generation, you can log in to the net banking portal of the account using your customer ID and log in password. After logging in, you can choose the ‘Change PIN’ option to set a new PIN for further use.
You can also activate your credit card offline through the OTP confirmation. All you need to do is click here and enter your mobile number to activate your card with OTP. You will receive the OTP on your registered mobile number. Also, you must remember that you are required to log in only using your registered mobile number.

To activate your credit card online, you can also use SmartPay. All you need to do is add billers to your credit card through SmartPay by giving standing instructions on your card. SmartPay is an automatic payment facility that allows you to make automatic payments through your credit card for various transactions, such as bill payment, recharge, etc.

Q. What will happen if I will not activate my credit card within 37 days?
A. You are required to activate your credit card within 30 days of receiving it to use it for future transactions. If not activated in 30 days, you will get a grace period of 7 days. However, if you do not activate your card within 37 days, your credit card will be closed and cannot be used for further purchases.
Q. Can I make contactless transactions with HDFC credit cards?
A. Yes, you can make contactless transactions of up to Rs. 5,000 just by tapping your HDFC Credit Card at the PoS machine. However, you are required to enable your credit card through net banking for contactless transactions. You can log in to your net banking account and visit the ‘Credit Cards’ section to enable contactless transactions on your card.
Q. Is there any transaction fee charged on SmartPay?
A. No, SmartPay is a platform provided by HDFC Bank. You can make automatic payments like bill payments, recharges, etc., without any transaction charges. Not only this, but you can also set your payment limit for each biller and get payment schedule reminders or transaction alerts accordingly.
