How to Activate SBI ATM/Debit Card via Internet Banking?

Follow the below mentioned steps to activate your SBI debit card by using SBI’s Internet banking service:

Step 1: Visit www.onlinesbi.com to login with your username and password.
Step 2: Choose ‘e-Services’ option and then click on ‘ATM/Debit Card’ option.
Step 3: Click on the ‘ATM PIN Generation’ option.
Step 4: Next you need to choose the option to validate via using One Time Password (OTP) or Profile Password
Step 5: Further you need to choose the account number linked with your debit card.
Step 6: Select the debit card for which you want to set a new PIN or update the existing one.
Step 7: Enter the first 2 digits of your desired PIN and then system will send the remaining 2 to your registered mobile number.
Step 8: Enter all 4 digits to verify the PIN and Confirm – After the system confirmation regarding the new set PIN for your SBI debit card – Its now ready to use.

After your SBI debit card is activated you will need to generate an ATM PIN which can be done by visiting any ATM, through SMS or through IVR, or else you can also visit a branch to get an ATM PIN.

How to Activate SBI Debit Card through ATM?

The process to activate your SBI debit card via ATM is known as the “Green PIN generation” and activation process. Find below to know the steps to generate a green PIN and how to activate SBI Debit Card via visiting an ATM:

Step 1: Visit your nearest SBI ATM branch and insert your debit card
Step 2: Select the option of ‘PIN Generation’ to enter your 11-digit account number and click “Confirm”
Step 3: Enter your 10-digit registered mobile number and click “Confirm”
Step 4: Authenticate with the received OTP to your registered mobile number with validity for 2 days
Step 5: Re-insert your debit card or return to the main menu, then select ‘Banking’ followed by the ‘PIN Change’ option.”
Step 6: Enter the received OTP and enter new PIN and confirm.

Now your SBI debit card is ready for you to make online and offline transaction.

How to Activate SBI Debit Card through SMS?

You can also activate your SBI debit card by sending an SMS to 567676 from your registered mobile number in the following format

SMS ‘PIN<space> the last 4 digits of your debit card <space> the last 4 digits of your account number

How to Activate SBI ATM/Debit Card via Toll Free Number?

You can call the following numbers to generate Green PIN via Interactive Voice Response (IVR)

Step 1: Call SBI customer care 1800-1234 or 1800-2100 with your registered mobile number
Step 2: Enter the last 5 digits of your debit card number and the last 5 digits of your account number along with your date of birth
Step 3: Authenticate via received One-Time Password (OTP) to your registered mobile number. It will be valid for 2 days.
Step 4: Visit any SBI ATM within 2 days to complete the remaining process. Insert your debit card, then select ‘Banking’ followed by ‘PIN Change’.
Step 5: When prompted, enter the OTP you received. Then, set your new PIN and confirm it to complete the process.

How to Activate SBI Debit Card through YONO App?

You can follow the below-mentioned steps to activate their debit card using the SBI YONO (You Only Need One) App.

Step 1: Download SBI YONO App and login using MPIN
Step 2: Click on the ‘Accounts’ tab available on the home screen
Step 3: Click on ‘My Debit Cards’ option and select your account
Step 4: Further click on active ‘Active Card’ option
Step 5: Enter your 16-digit ATM card number and click on ‘Next’
Step 6: Authenticate with the received OTP on your registered mobile number to set the PIN.

How to Activate a debit card using the Green PIN/One Time PIN?

Within 2 days of receiving the green PIN or One Time PIN, visit your nearest SBI ATM and generate a new ATM PIN to enable the transactions. Follow the below-mentioned steps:

Step 1: Visit your nearest ATM branch and start by inserting your debit card
Step 2: Select Banking
Step 3: Under the Enter Your PIN Option enter the One Time PIN received
Step 4: With the help of the PIN Change Option, set a new PIN for your card

The card will now be activated for all types of transactions.

You can enable international transactions on your SBI Debit Card by using the YONO SBI App. For this follow the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: Login on the YONO SBI App with your MPIN or user id and password.
Step 2: On the home page navigate to the section ‘Quick Links’ and move to ‘Service Request’.
Step 3: Now choose the option ‘ATM/Debit Card’. Here enter your ‘Internet Banking Profile password’ and click on submit.
Step 4: On successful submission, choose the option ‘Manage Cards’.
Step 5: Now select the account and debit card, from the drop-down menu and go to ‘Manage Usage’.
Step 6: Here you can drag the toggle to the right to allow International usage with your debit card.
Step 7: To confirm, you need to authenticate the transaction by entering the one-time OTP sent on your registered mobile number and click on ‘Submit’.
Step 8: On successful activation, a confirmation SMS is sent to you.

In case you have not been using your SBI debit card for e-commerce transactions through websites for a long time, the facility might have been disabled. You can activate online transactions on your SBI Debit Card via the YONO SBI App or via the SMS Banking facility.

How to activate ecom in SBI debit card through YONO SBI: To activate your SBI ATM Card for e-commerce transactions, you can follow similar steps as mentioned above. In Step 6, you can drag the toggle for e-commerce transactions, and follow the same process as it is.

How to activate ecom in SBI debit card through SMS:  To enable the same, you can also use the SMS banking facility. For this, you need to send an SMS, “swon ecom nnnn” (nnnn is the last four digits of the card eg., 0647) to 09223966666. Additionally, you can also use onlinesbi.com. Here you need to follow,   e-services >> atm card services >> atm card limit >> channel >> usage change.

You can allow contactless transactions on your SBI Debit card, to save time and effort while paying at the POS terminals. These transactions are safe and secure, based on NFC functionality. To enable contactless transactions on your SBI Debit card, you need to visit the ‘Manage Cards’ section on the SBI app. For this, you can follow similar steps, (as mentioned above) on the YONO SBI APP. However, in step 6, you need to drag the toggle to the right against the option ‘Contactless (NFC) functionality.

Note that the per transaction limit for contactless transactions is Rs. 5,000.
