How to Block HSBC Credit Card

There are many ways through which you can block your HSBC credit card, they are:

Net Banking

Customers can have a replacement credit card delivered via net banking. The steps are:

  • Log in to your HSBC Online Banking portal
  • On the home page select Order Replacement Card
  • Provide the necessary details and follow the onscreen instructions

HSBC will send you the replacement credit card and eventually block the old credit card.

Customer Care

You can call the HSBC Customer Care Helpline Number and ask the executive to block your credit card. The numbers are:

Branch Visit

You can also submit a written request at any one of the HSBC bank branches asking them to block your credit card.

Things to Keep in Mind

Here is a checklist to go through before you block or cancel your HSBC Credit Card.

  • File a First Information Report (FIR) with the police about the lost/stolen credit card and share the same with the bank
  • Immediately inform HSBC Bank upon discovering the loss of your credit card. This will save you from fraudulent transactions and identity theft

Can I make any payments while my HSBC credit card is blocked?
You cannot use your card once the card has been blocked. Also, The card is blocked almost immediately once the bank gets your complaint.

Can I use the reward points on my credit card once it is blocked?
Reward redemption is chargeable at Rs. 50 per redemption. As, you cannot use your card to make transacations; therefore, you cannot redeem reward points once your card is blocked.

Is there a card replacement fee on HSBC credit cards?
Yes, HSBC charges you Rs. 100 to replace your credit card

I have damaged my HSBC Credit Card? What should I do now?
You can call the HSBC Phone Banking number and inform about the damage and ask for a replacement. Alternately, you can login to your HSBC internet banking account and click on Order Replacement Card on the homepage.
