Features and Benefits of HDFC Times Platinum Credit Card

Welcome Benefits worth Rs. 5,000

This card provides joining benefits in the form of vouchers worth Rs. 5,000 for shopping, dining, apparel and other category spends. You can get these vouchers only if you activate your credit card within the first 30 days of card opening. This benefit is not available on card renewal after the first year.

This feature is quite remarkable when compared to other similar credit cards as the cardholders get welcome vouchers worth 5 times the card fee. Generally, most credit cards simply match the value of their welcome benefits to their joining fee. For instance, HDFC Millennia or premium cards like SBI Elite both offer gift vouchers equivalent to their annual fee amount as welcome benefits. However, in case of this HDFC Platinum Times credit card, the joining benefit value far exceeds the card fee.

Should you Get this Credit Card?

HDFC Platinum Times Credit Card is the right choice for someone looking specifically for movies and dining benefits. A 50% discount on movie tickets along with 10 reward points per Rs. 150 on weekday dining seems quite a reasonable deal for an annual fee of only Rs. 1,000. However, these are the only two benefits of this card; all the other features are quite basic. The general reward rate is also of 3 points per Rs. 150. So, if you are looking for more comprehensive benefits like flat-rate cashback on all transactions or some travel-focused features, then you should look for other options.
