How to Activate ICICI Debit Card

Usually the international transactions are disabled for the debit cards. Here are the steps to activate such transactions using both iMobile app and ICICI internet banking:

Using iMobile App

To activate international transactions on your debit card, you can follow the steps discussed above using the ICICI iMobile app. Here, after choosing the ‘Debit Card’ option, click on the enable ‘international’ transactions, instead of ‘Online’ in your Step 3.

Using Internet Banking

The steps to activate international transactions on your debit card are similar to those for enabling online transactions given above. Follow the same steps until Step 4, but in Step 5, enable card limits for ‘International’ transactions.

ICICI bank also offers the facility of contactless payments through the ‘Tap and Pay’ feature of debit cards. By enabling this, the debit card users can make payments of up to Rs. 5,000 without entering the card PIN. You can activate contactless transactions on your ICICI card by following the steps described below.

Via iMobile Pay App

Step 1: Login to the iMobile Pay app by entering your account details.

Step 2: Select the ‘Debit Card’ option.

Step 3: Go to the ‘Transaction Settings’ and enable ‘Tap and Pay’ transactions.

Via Internet Banking

You can also enable contactless transactions and set card limits using net banking. Follow the steps to enable online payments up to Step 4 as discussed above. Then, after choosing the debit card, enable the transaction limit for ‘contactless payments’.

The ICICI bank new debit card or credit card users can activate their new cards by several different modes. Moreover, they can now also use their cards for online and offline transactions without visiting the ICICI bank ATMs for activation. For this, they need to generate their debit card PIN through the ways mentioned below:

Using iMobile App

Step 1: Login to your account on the iMobile app and go to ‘Services’.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Card PIN Services’ and select the ‘Generate Debit Card PIN’ option.

Step 3: Choose your account and debit card numbers and enter CVV.

Step 4: Enter any 4 digit debit card PIN of choice, then confirm and ‘Submit’ the new PIN.

Using Internet Banking

Step 1: Enter User ID and password to login to your ICICI bank internet banking account.

Step 2: Click on ‘Cards and Loans’ and select the ‘Debit/ATM Card’ option.

Step 3: Click on ‘Generate PIN’ and select the desired debit card number from the list of cards linked to your account.

Step 4: Enter the 3 digit CVV number that is printed on the back of your card.

Step 5: Enter the grid values mentioned on the card’s backside.

Step 6: Type in the One Time Password (OTP) that is sent to your registered mobile number and submit.

Step 7: Create the new ATM/ Debit card PIN and confirm.

Using ATM

Step 1: Visit the nearest ATM.

Step 2: Select the ‘Generate ATM PIN’ option and click on the “Generate OTP’ button.

Step 3: Enter your registered mobile number and click on ‘Yes’.

Step 4: Enter your date of birth and select ‘Yes’ option.

Step 5: Choose ‘Already have an OTP’ option and enter the OTP sent on your registered mobile number.

Step 6: Enter the desired 4 digit debit card PIN and confirm the new PIN.

By Calling ICICI Bank Customer Care

Step 1: Call the ICICI bank customer care using your registered mobile number and click on ‘Banking Account’.

Step 2: Choose the ‘Generate debit card PIN’ option and enter your 16 digit card number.

Step 3: Enter the card expiry date, CVV and date of birth of the primary account holder.

Step 4: Enter the desired 4 digit debit card PIN, confirm the new PIN and ‘Submit’.

Step 5: Select ‘Generate PIN’ option, enter the details asked and generate PIN.

The ICICI bank debit cardholders can also use their cards directly without activating their card by visiting the ATM. The first-time users can use their new card at the following transaction points:

• Retail merchant outlets by using the ATM PIN for fuel, shopping and dining
• Online transactions by generating the 3D secure PIN for paying the bill, to shop, book tickets, etc.
• Interactive Voice Response (IVR) transactions through the ATM PIN
• Cash withdrawals, balance inquiry and other ATM transactions using ATM PIN
