About Etihad Guest SBI Credit Card

Etihad Guest SBI Card is the base variant among the two cards offered by SBI Card in collaboration with Etihad Airways. Cardholders get value-back in the form of Etihad Guest Miles, which can later be redeemed to book flights, hotels or make other purchases on the Etihad Guest website. Complimentary domestic lounge access, companion voucher and bonus Etihad Guest Miles as milestone benefits are some other notable features of this card. Though the card offers accelerated earnings on Etihad spends and on international transactions, the low earning rate brings down the overall value. Let’s understand with an example – if you spend Rs. 10 Lakh in a year only on the accelerated categories, you would accumulate 30,000 Etihad Guest Miles. Even after adding the welcome & milestone bonus of 7,500 miles, you would have 37,500 miles. With this balance, you can get only 1 business class ticket (30,000 miles) or around 3 Economy Class Tickets (13,000 miles each) for your trip from Ahmedabad to Abu Dhabi.

What do we like about this card?

Like most airline co-branded credit cards, the Etihad Guest SBI Card also offers value-back in the airline’s loyalty points – Etihad Guest Miles. The companion voucher is a good feature as it allows you to take one companion with you, with base fare waived off. Apart from the benefits with Etihad Airways, you get Priority Pass membership and domestic airport lounge visits. Travellers can also save some more on hotels and car rentals through Visa Signature.

What is the discount on Etihad SBI Card?

Etihad SBI Card no longer offers direct discount on travel bookings made through Etihad website. You will only earn accelerated Etihad Guest Miles on this spend at the rate of 3 Miles per Rs. 100.

What are the benefits of Etihad Guest membership?

With Etihad Guest Silver Tier membership, you can avail lounge access in Abu Dhabi, dedicated check-in at Abu Dhabi Airport, free Wi-Fi on board and 25% bonus miles.

How to use the companion voucher received with my Etihad Guest SBI Card?

The companion voucher can be used at the time of booking your flight with Etihad Airways. Etihad Guest Miles must be redeemed in order to avail of this offer as full payment or Miles + Cash. Note that only the base fare of the ‘plus one’ ticket will be waived off; rest of the booking amount will have to paid by the user.

Is this credit card eligible for airport lounge access outside India?

No. Etihad Guest SBI Card does not offer complimentary international lounge access. However, you get a complimentary Priority Pass membership, which allows you access to Priority Pass lounges all over the world, though visit charges will be applicable.

Should I put my fuel spends on this card?

Fuel transactions are not eligible for Etihad Guest Miles earning. However, you will get up to Rs. 250 as fuel surcharge waiver on your card. If you wish to save on your fuel spends, it is advisable to get a fuel credit card instead.
