YES Bank’s premium credit card – Marquee is tailored to the needs of high-income individuals. Much like other premium cards, YES Marquee also offers benefits across multiple categories, with more focus on rewards and travel. With a generous sign-up bonus, unlimited lounge access, and a
competitive value back of up to 4.5%, the card stands as a worthy competitor to premium all-rounder credit cards like HDFC Diners Club Black, Standard Chartered Ultimate and ICICI Emeralde Private Credit Card. Read on to know about its features and benefits, followed by a review.

Welcome Benefit
Rewards Program

YES Marquee Credit Card’s rewards program primarily focuses on online shopping, offering an impressive reward rate of up to 4.5%, surpassing premium cards like HDFC DC Black (3.33%) and ICICI Emeralde Private Metal (3%). The card also stands out by offering rewards on categories like wallet loading, rental payments, utility bills, insurance, etc., which are generally excluded by most credit cards. However, it falls short in terms of redemption options. For point-to-mile transfer, you only have two options- Club Vistara and Intermiles. Where most premium cards extend redemption benefits with several airlines and hotels, limiting to just two options is rather restrictive for a premium credit card.

Lounge Access:
Low Forex Mark-up: 1% foreign currency exchange mark-up fee on international transactions
Movie Offer: Buy 1 get 1 offer with up to Rs. 800 off per movie ticket on BookMyShow with maximum 3 free tickets on purchasing 3 regular tickets per month.
Golf Benefits: Cardholders can avail complimentary golf games or lessons are per the below details:
Renewal Bonus: 20,000 bonus YES Rewardz Points on renewal fee payment.
Dining Offer: Minimum 15% off on dining at select restaurants under the Dining Fiesta program.
Fuel Surcharge Waiver: 1% fuel surcharge waiver of up to Rs. 1,000 per month on your fuel transactions between Rs. 400 and Rs. 5,000.
With unlimited international lounge visits and 24 domestic lounge visits for primary and add-on members, Marquee Credit Card stands neck and neck with popular premium cards. It holds great value for international travellers as it offers ‘convenience’ with free lounge visits and ‘savings’ with a low foreign exchange mark-up fee of 1%. Beyond its primary categories, Marquee also offers up to 36 free movie tickets worth Rs. 28,800, 12 complimentary golf lessons or games, bonus rewards worth Rs. 5,000 as renewal benefit and fuel benefits worth Rs. 12,000. The combined value of these benefits not only surpasses the card’s annual fee by a wide margin but also adds to its overall value as an all-rounder card.

The calculation for the above illustration is done considering the following rewards redemption options:
Based on the comparison table above, it’s evident that all the three cards offer similar overall savings if you redeem your accrued points against the options that give the highest redemption value. However, despite a lower rewards redemption value than the other two cards, YES Bank Marquee takes a lead when it comes to value-back on online transactions. So, if you are a frequent online shopper, Marquee card could yield greater savings. Conversely, if your expenses are distributed among various categories, opting for HDFC Diners Club Black might be more suitable.

With a straightforward rewards structure and no spend-based capping, YES Marquee allows consumers to earn good value-back on online and offline spends, including categories that are often excluded such as rent payments, insurance payments, and utility bills. The card’s unlimited international lounge access, complimentary guest visits, and a low forex markup fee, make it an appealing choice for frequent international travellers. Moreover, the annual benefit of free movie tickets worth Rs. 28,800 and complimentary golf lessons further add to the card’s value.
While YES Marquee has a lot to offer to travellers, it does not provide enough ways to convert accumulated reward points into travel savings. Where Axis Magnus and HDFC DC Black have 15+ airlines and hotels in their miles transfer program, with YES Marquee, you only have the option to convert your points into Club Vistara Points or Intermiles. You can also use the points to book flights and hotels through the YES Rewardz Platform; however, the redemption value of Rs. 0.25 for each point is too low, especially for a premium card. A low redemption value coupled with limited redemption options dims the sheen of an otherwise excellent rewards program. Despite these limitations, YES Marquee still stands strong as an all-rounder credit card.
