The final maturity value of the fixed deposit depends on PNB FD interest rates, tenure, total amount and type of FD chosen, i.e. cumulative FD or non-cumulative FD.
Under non-cumulative FD, PNB offers monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and yearly interest payout options under its traditional and tax saver plans. The monthly interest is paid at discounted rate and quarterly interest is paid at simple rates. But in case of half yearly/yearly interest pay-out options, interest is credited on a quarterly basis on the current/saving account of the depositor. In the case of cumulative PNB FD option (also known as reinvestment option), the interest component remains invested till FD maturity.
The reinvestment option for PNB FD is ideal for depositors needing regular income to meet their expenses. The cumulative investment option would help the depositor benefit from the power of compounding, as the interest component of the fixed deposit remains invested and starts generating interest income on its own.
