Features of ICICI FCNR(B) Fixed Deposits
- Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs are eligibile to open ICICI FCNR(B) deposits.
- Depositors can hold FCNR(B) deposits in any of the 5 foreign currencies – US Dollars (USD), Pounds Sterling (GBP), Singapore Dollar (SGD), Australian Dollars (AUD) and Canadian Dollars (CAD).
- Minimum deposit for opening ICICI FD:
- USD/GBP: 1,000
- SGD/CAD/AUD: 2,000
- The tenure for FCNR fixed deposit ranges from 1 year to 5 years.
- USD – 1 to 5 years;
- Other currencies – 1 to less than 3 years
- Depositor can open FCNR (B) deposits from funds contributed via:
- Foreign inward remittances
- Conversion of existing deposits upon maturity
- Transfers from existing NRE/FCNR accounts
- The fixed deposit interest rates of FCNR(B) are linked to overnight and short-term SOFR/LIBOR benchmarks for each currency.
- The principal and interest amount are fully repatriable, i.e., NRIs can move their funds to any overseas bank account on maturity period or premature closure.
- Depositors can visit ICICI Bank Branch or apply via Internet Banking, iMobile App or Wire Transfer to open FD account.
Loan Against FCNR Deposits
- NRIs can avail loan against their FD value up to Rs 5 crore.
- Depositor can avail loan up to 85% against FCNR fixed deposits, including both principal and accumulated interest for the duration completed.
- FCNR(B) deposit continues to earn interest at the contracted rate even if depositor taken a loan or overdraft against it.
Documents Required to Open FCNR Account
- A valid passport copy
- Overseas address proof
- Visa or work permit or residency permit
- FATCA/CRS declaration to confirm a depositor’s NRI status.
Premature Withdrawal of ICICI FCNR Deposits
Premature Withdrawal of FD for FCNR deposits are as follows:-
