Agriculture currently consists of 13% of India’s total export and 6% of total industrial investment. The agriculture and processed food products industry is set for a growth curve due to government’s policies to boost agriculture industry through soil health cards, storage facilities, agricultural infrastructure and irrigation policies.
The Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) was established under Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act for the promotion of the export of agricultural and processed food products. The authority comes under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
List of products that are monitored by APEDA are as follows:
APEDA is entrusted with the task of assessing and improving the quality of agri-produce, registration of exporters, offering APEDA Subsidy and boosting the export of agricultural and processed food products.
People indulged in export of products scheduled under APEDA Act must apply to the authority for Registration cum Membership Certificate (RCMC), within one month of undertaking any such export.
Steps to Register Online
Step 1: Visit the APEDA website by clicking here and click on ‘Register as a member’ on home page under section Online services ‘Track System’.
Step 2: A pop-up window will open that will require IE code, company name, email address and mobile number. Fill in the information and click on ‘Submit’.
Step 3: An OTP for details confirmation will be sent on your registered email address and mobile number. Enter the OTP and click on submit.
Step 4: After filling the OTP the exporter shall need to fill in the application form online and upload the required documents only in JPEG or PDF format.
Step 5: After filling the sections, exporter can save the information by clicking on ‘Save’. The application form can be edited before the payment is made.
Step 6: Exporter needs to submit the registration fee of Rs. 5000 + 18% GST Rs. 900 = Rs. 5900 through following modes of payment:

Step 7: After the payment is made, an application number will be generated for further use.
Step 8: Once the RCMC is issued, Login details will be sent to the exporter’s email address.
Step 9: Exporter can login using the details on APEDA’s official website and can view the status of application by clicking on ‘Track Application’
Step 10: Documents required with application form
Note: No documents are required to be submitted in hard copy for the RCMC application.
Step 11: After the approval of RCMC from APEDA authority, exporter shall take printout of their Certificate through their APEDA Login under the heading of ‘View RCMC Certificate’ under RCMC Menu by clicking here.
The APEDA offers different types of financial assistance schemes and subsidies to exporters for development of export infrastructure for processing, storage and transportation; quality development and quality testing; and market development activities, such as market intelligence, participation in trade fairs and high quality packaging. Benefits of APEDA Registration:
Can the registration / membership application for APEDA done offline?
No. The application for RCMC of APEDA can only be done online and any application received offline will be sent back to the applicant.
Which are the products scheduled under APEDA?
Floriculture and seeds, fresh fruits and vegetables, animal products, cereals, organic products, and processed foods are scheduled under APEDA. The detailed list of products can be viewed on APEDA’s official website.
Is APEDA authorized to carry out inspections of the exporters?
Yes. APEDA can carry out inspections of products and packaging, to ensure the quality standards meant for export are met.

APEDA is present in all the major agriculture producing states through five regional offices – Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Guwahati. Also, AIPDA has 13 virtual offices – Ahmedabad, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Lucknow, Bhubaneshwar, Srinagar, Chandigarh, Imphal, Agartala, Kohima, Raipur, Bhopal and Panaji.
