American Express credit card bill payment can be made via multiple online and offline modes. Some common online methods include NEFT, UPI and Bill Desk and cardholders can also set standing instructions to automate their credit card payment. Those who prefer offline modes may write a cheque or draft and courier it to American Express or leave it in the nearest drop box. Here are the details of how to pay American Express credit card bills.
Following are a few ways how you can pay your American Express credit card bills online.

You can use the NEFT facility to transfer funds from your bank account and settle your American Express credit card dues. Follow the process given below:
Step 1: Add/Register your American Express Credit Card as a Payee in your bank account. Use the following details:
Step 2: Once the payee is added, you can select the same and enter the amount you wish to pay.
Step 3: Proceed with the fund transfer and authorize the same with OTP (if required by your bank).
Payments made via NEFT will be credited in the next 24 hours.
Note: If you are using Standard Chartered Online Banking to make payment via NEFT, you do not need to enter the IFSC Code. Select the option- ‘Transfer to another SCB bank account’ and continue to make the payment.
You can also pay your American Express credit card bill through UPI. Follow the steps shown below:
Step 1: Login to your UPI-enabled mobile banking app
Step 2: Go to fund transfer and select the VPA option
Step 3: Enter this as the VPA- AEBC<15-digit card number beginning with 37>@SC (For example, if your card number is 3712 3456789 0123, the VPA will be AEBC371234567890123@SC)
Step 4: Enter the amount you wish to pay and proceed by entering your UPI Pin.
Once authorised, the payment will be made. If you initiate the payment before 5 pm, the amount will be credited into your American Express Credit Card by the next day, provided it is not a Sunday or a public holiday.
If you frequently miss credit card payments and find it difficult to manage multiple credit cards, you can set standing instruction on your bank account to automatically pay your American Express Credit Card dues. Once you are enrolled for the Auto Pay facility, each month total due or minimum due (as entered in the enrolment form) will be deducted from your nominated bank account.
For online enrolment, you will have to fill this form and submit. It will take 5 business days to get enrolled.
For offline enrolment, you will have to fill out a paper-based form depending on the type of card you have: Charge Card Auto Pay Enrolment Form or Credit Card Auto Pay Enrolment Form. In the offline process, it takes 3-4 weeks to complete the enrolment.

American Express Credit Card users can also make their bill payments offline. There are two ways to do so-
You can write a cheque/draft payable to “AEBC Card No. <15-digit card number starting with 37>” for the amount that you wish to pay and courier the same to the address given below:

The payment will be credited to the card account only when the cheque/draft is cleared from the payee bank.
American Express also has drop boxes at several convenient locations. You can make the cheque/draft in the same way as above and drop it in the nearest drop box. You must check for Amex Stickers on the Standard Chartered Bank drop boxes before dropping the cheque.

You can also drop the cheque/draft at the nearest American Express drop box. However, you should never drop cash payment in the drop box.

How much time does it take for an NEFT payment to be processed?
Since fund transfers via NEFT are done in hourly batches, the processing time depends on when you have initiated the payment. As per RBI, the batches start from 8 AM and continue till 7 PM. So, for example, if you make NEFT payment at 7:30 PM, it will be credited the next working day.
Do I need to pay charges for bill payment through bill desk?
No. You do not have to pay any extra amount for payment through bill desk.
Can I pay American Express credit card bills using my debit card?
No. American Express does not offer the facility of making bill payment via debit cards.
I have a charge card from American Express. Is the bill payment process different for charge cards?
You can make bill payment towards your American Express Charge Card through the same online methods such as NEFT and UPI. If you wish to set up direct debit instructions, you will have to fill up the online form and post to the address mentioned on the form.
Can I set direct debit instructions on my current account?
Yes. You can set direct debit instructions on Savings, Current, NRE, NRO and other accounts.
