Axis Bank Announces Changes to Airtel Credit Card: Capping Revised, Lounge Access Removed

Axis Bank has announced some revisions on its Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card, effective 12^th April 2026. While the overall value-back structure remains unchanged, the bank has modified the way cashback capping on accelerated categories will be calculated. In addition, brands eligible under the accelerated cashback category are being revised, and the complimentary domestic lounge access benefit will be discontinued. Here’s everything you need to know.

Cashback Rate on Airtel Spends Remains the Same but Capping Revised

• 25% cashback on Airtel Mobile, Broadband and DTH payment via Airtel Thanks App
• 10% cashback on utility bill payments via the Airtel Thanks App

However, the capping on these categories is currently Rs. 250 p.m. From 12^th April 2026 onwards, the maximum cashback under 25% category will be capped at twice the base cashback earned during the same statement month. On the 10% category, the cashback will be the same as the base cashback earned during the statement month.

So, if you spend Rs. 50,000 under the 1% (base) category and earn Rs. 500 cashback, you can earn max. Rs. 1,000 cashback under the 25% category and Rs. 500 under the 10% category.

Changes in Accelerated Benefits on Select Brands

10% cashback on Swiggy, Zomato and BigBasket will be replaced with 10% value-back on Blinkit, Zomato and District Movies, applicable via ecom as the mode of payment. Maximum monthly value-back is capped at Rs. 200 per brand per primary card.

Moreover, the value-back is currently offered as direct cashback into statement but, after the revision, the value-back will be provided in the respective partner brand’s wallet. Consumers can use the credited value-back to make subsequent purchases on the partner’s platform. Credit amount does not have any validity period.

For Zomato and Blinkit, the minimum spend value must be Rs. 499 across all categories, except wallet loads and gift card purchases.

Lounge Access Benefit Discontinued

Currently, Airtel Axis Bank Credit Cardholders get 4 complimentary domestic lounge visits in a year. This benefit will be discontinued from 12^th April 2026.
