MNP or Mobile Number Portability gives users the freedom to change their mobile operators without changing their existing mobile number. This means you can switch from prepaid to postpaid or move to a different network provider. With MNP service, you can even port your mobile number across cities. For example, if you’re relocating from Delhi to Mumbai and want to port your number to a local operator there, you can do it through a process known as inter-circle MNP.

How Long Does It Take to Port Operator?
Usually it takes 3-5 working days to complete the porting process. If you’re porting within the state, then it will take around 3 working days. The porting from one state to another (e.g. Delhi to Mumbai) takes 5 working days. Also, in case of porting a Corporate number, the porting time is 5 working days. Some states have different timelines for SIM porting. For example, in Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and North East service areas, it will take around 15 working days to port a number.
Why Was My Port Request Rejected?
Your port request can be rejected due to these possible reasons:
If you enter an incorrect UPC, or there's even a small typo while submitting the porting form, your request can be rejected.
Usually, a UPC is valid for 4 days, except in Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, and the North East, where it remains valid for 30 days. If your UPC expires before you submit your porting request, you'll have to generate a new one.
If you have any outstanding bills or unpaid dues with your current operator, your porting request will be rejected until the dues are cleared.
Numbers that are newly activated or haven't completed the 90-day usage period with the current operator aren't eligible for porting.
Submitting incorrect, incomplete, or mismatched documents, such as an ID that doesn't match your registered details, can lead to rejection.
