Airtel Mobile Recharge Plans: Benefits & Validity

Recharge Plan Validity Benefits
₹185 28 days Unlimited calls (Local, STD & Roaming), 300 SMS and free Hellotunes
₹203 30 days Unlimited calls (Local, STD & Roaming), 300 SMS and free Hellotunes
₹206 One calendar month Unlimited calls (Local, STD & Roaming), 300 SMS and free Hellotunes

All three newly released Airtel plans offer unlimited local, STD and roaming calls, along with 300 SMS, but no mobile data benefits. The plans also include free Hellotunes for one month.

While the plan benefits are the same, their validity periods differ, allowing customers to choose based on their recharge preferences.

  • The ₹185 plan is the most affordable option, offering a validity period of 28 days.
  • The ₹203 plan is best suited for customers who prefer a 30-day recharge cycle.
  • The ₹206 plan is ideal for customers who prefer recharging on the same date each month.

Why Did Airtel Launch These Mobile Recharge Plans?

Airtel launched these mobile recharge plans in response to TRAI’s (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) new norms notified in September 2026. In its Telecom Consumer Protection (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulations, 2026, the telecom regulator had asked mobile network operators to introduce at least one Special Tariff Voucher (STV) that includes only voice and SMS benefits with a validity period of 30 days or less.

The new norms were introduced after TRAI observed that the voice-and-SMS-only recharge options were limited and largely offered on longer validity periods, thereby limiting the affordable short-term choices for customers. The aim was to give customers greater flexibility and ensure they do not have to pay for bundled data services they may not need.

Who Can Benefit from Airtel's New Prepaid Plans?

These plans may suit feature phone users, subscribers who primarily use their phones for calls and text messages, and people who rely on Wi-Fi for internet access. They may also benefit customers who maintain a secondary SIM mainly for receiving calls or staying reachable.

By offering different short-term validity options, Airtel gives such users greater flexibility in managing their mobile expenses. However, customers who regularly use mobile internet for browsing, video streaming or online payments may find a data-inclusive plan more suitable.

Overall, Airtel's new voice-only recharges expand the choices available to prepaid subscribers. Their usefulness will depend on individual calling, messaging and internet requirements, as well as the availability of suitable plans from other telecom operators.
