What's Changing from 26 July 2026?

1. Higher Cashback on Dining, Food Delivery & Grocery

The biggest enhancement is the increase in accelerated cashback.

Feature Current From 26 July 2026
Accelerated Cashback 10% cashback (up to Rs. 1,000/month) on Food, Dining and Grocery spends 10% cashback (up to Rs. 1,200/month) on Food, Dining, Grocery, Shopping and Utility Bill Payments

This is a meaningful increase in value for existing customers who want to save on their monthly expenses like utility bill payments. The addition of Shopping Category further adds to the earning opportunities.

2. Complimentary International Lounge Access

Until now, HSBC Live+ only offered domestic airport lounge access.

From 26 July 2026, cardholders will also receive:

  • 1 complimentary international airport lounge visit every year

This is a welcome addition for occasional international travellers who previously needed a premium travel card to enjoy overseas lounge access.

3. Visa Infinite Upgrade

The HSBC Live+ Card will now be issued on the Visa Infinite platform instead of its existing variant.

This unlocks several premium Visa benefits, including:

  • Airport Meet & Assist services
  • Complimentary stay at ITC Hotels
  • Benefits on Avis car rentals

While these benefits vary over time, moving to Visa Infinite certainly improves the overall value proposition beyond cashback.

4. Cashback on Fuel Spends

In addition to the above changes, cardholders will now earn cashback on fuel spends as well. However, the cashback is capped at Rs. 250 per quarter on contactless fuel transactions.

Existing Benefits Continue

Apart from the enhancements, the core strengths of the card remain unchanged:

  • 1.5% unlimited cashback on eligible spends
  • Rs. 999 joining and annual fee
  • Annual fee waiver on Rs. 2 lakh annual spends
  • Direct cashback credit (no reward redemption hassles)

Instead of taking away benefits, HSBC has chosen to improve the card's earning potential while adding premium travel privileges. This suggests HSBC is trying to position Live+ as one of the strongest cashback cards in the Rs. 1,000 annual fee segment.

Is the HSBC Live+ Among the Best Cashback Cards?

For users whose monthly spending is concentrated around:

  • Dining
  • Food delivery
  • Groceries
  • Shopping
  • Utilities

the answer is yes.

With 10% accelerated cashback (subject to monthly caps), the card becomes even more rewarding for everyday spending than many competing cashback cards that usually offer 5% back in similar categories.

At a time when credit card news is usually synonymous with devaluations, HSBC has delivered something cardholders rarely see—an upgrade that genuinely improves the card.

The increased cashback cap, international lounge access and Visa Infinite benefits make the HSBC Live+ one of the most compelling cashback cards in its fee segment. While the enhanced benefits will appeal most to urban users with regular dining and grocery spends, the addition of travel privileges broadens its appeal to occasional travellers as well.

Assuming the revised cashback structure and merchant eligibility remain generous, the HSBC Live+ could become one of the easiest cashback cards to under Rs. 1,000 fee range.
