UTI Mutual Fund is one of India’s oldest mutual fund institutions, with roots dating back to 1963, when the Unit Trust of India (UTI) was established as India’s first mutual fund. Today, it offers a range of mutual fund schemes across domestic and offshore markets to meet investors’ diverse risk profiles and financial goals.
In 2003, UTI was restructured into two entities: Specified Undertaking of the Unit Trust of India (SUUTI) and UTI Mutual Fund (UTIMF). UTI Mutual Fund was registered with SEBI on 1 February 2003 and was sponsored by SBI, PNB, Bank of Baroda and LIC.
UTI Asset Management Company Ltd. (UTI AMC), incorporated in 2002, manages UTI Mutual Fund’s investments. T. Rowe Price Group, through its subsidiary T. Rowe Price International Ltd., acquired a 26% stake in UTI AMC and currently holds 23%. UTI AMC offers equity, debt, hybrid, index, and other mutual fund schemes and was listed on the BSE and NSE in 2020.
