Invesco Mutual Fund is a joint venture between Invesco Hong Kong Ltd. and IndusInd International Holdings Limited, backed by American asset management expertise and Hinduja Group, respectively.
However, back in 2006 the AMC started its mutual fund journey in India by the name Lotus India Mutual Fund under Alexandra Fund Management Pvt. Ltd. Later, Religare Securities Ltd. (RSL) acquired the AMC and Trustee Company and became the Sponsor. In 2013, the US-based global fund house Invesco Hong Kong Limited (Invesco HK) entered the India mutual fund market by acquiring a 49% stake in the AMC and Trustee Company. It became a co-sponsor along with RSL. The fund was renamed as Religare Invesco Mutual Fund.
In 2016, Invesco HK acquired the remaining 51% stake, making it the sole sponsor of the mutual fund. RSL ceased to be a Sponsor. Following this change, the mutual fund was renamed Invesco Mutual Fund, with a presence in over 49 cities across India and is considered the 15th-largest asset manager in India.
