Consequences of Closing Credit Card

Your credit score might be affected when you close a credit card. This is because, when you close a credit card, your overall credit limit drops. Now, if the expenses remain the same, there is a good chance that your Credit Utilization Ratio (CUR) will go up. It is the ratio between the credit limit and the credit utilized. A higher CUR makes you look credit hungry and issuers may hesitate to give you another credit card.
