Udyam Registration

Udyam Registration is a government registration system that provides official recognition to MSMEs (Micro, Small, Medium Enterprise) and provides government benefits, such as easier loans, subsidies and protection under MSME laws. The process is free of cost, paperless and based on self-declaration. No documents are required for Udyam registration apart from Aadhaar and PAN.

For new entrepreneurs who are not yet registered as MSMEs or those with EM-II:

• Visit the government portal of Udyam registration.
• Enter your Aadhar number.
• Enter the ‘Name of Entrepreneur’ as per the Aadhaar Card.
• Click on the tick mark for the declaration and click on ‘Validate and Generate OTP’.
• Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number for verification and click on the ‘Validate’ button.
• After Aadhaar verification, provide other relevant details, such as:
  • Type of Organisation (for example, partnership)
  • PAN Card- Yes/No. If yes, enter the PAN Number
  • Tick the declaration and click on ‘Validate’. Your PAN will be verified.
• You need to mention more relevant details, such as:
  • Have you filed the ITR for the previous year- Yes/No.
  • Do you have GSTIN - Yes/No.
• In case the entrepreneur does not have a valid PAN Card, then he/she has to enter the ‘Name of the Entrepreneur’.
• Enter the mobile number and email address.
• Enter the social category, gender, specially abled (yes/no), name of the enterprise, name of the plant or the unit.
• Enter the location of Plant(s) and the official address of Enterprise.
• You also need to enter the previous EM-II/UAM registration number, the status of the enterprise, bank details, the major activity of the unit, the National Industrial Classification (NIC) Code for Activities, number of persons employed in the enterprise.
• Enter the investment in plant and machinery, turnover and other important details as mentioned in the image below.
• Once done, tick the declaration and click on the ‘Submit and Get final OTP’ button.
• Once again, enter the OTP on your registered mobile number. Your Udyam registration will be completed.

Udyam registration is a permanent registration and basic identification number of an enterprise. An enterprise registered on the Udyam portal can avail the following benefits:

MSMEs need not upload any documents for Udyam Registration. The registration process only requires PAN and Aadhar of the entities. The documents required for Udyam Registration are mentioned below:

Note: Once the process is completed, the Udyam registration certificate is issued online. The certificate is provided with a dynamic QR code that can be used to access the portal web page and details of the enterprise.

You can download the Udyam certificate from the official portal by following the steps mentioned below: 

1. Go to “Print/Verify” and click on “Print Udyam Certificate”. 
2. Enter the required information and generate the OTP. 
3. Enter the OTP and click on “Validate OTP and Login” to download the PDF.
