Welcome Benefits on RBL Zomato Edition Credit Cards
Out of the two variants, RBL Edition Classic Credit Card offers 500 edition cash that is credited to your account instantly after the card issuance. You can use the Edition cash earned via this card on the Zomato app just like real money, wherein 1 edition cash=1 rupee.
It is surprising that despite charging a higher joining/annual fee, the premium variant, RBL Edition Black Credit Card does not offer any welcome benefit whatsoever. A sign-up bonus is usually something new users would look forward to and therefore this is a drawback.
Zomato Pro Plus Benefits on RBL Bank Edition Credit Cards
Both these RBL Bank credit cards offer complimentary Zomato Pro Plus Membership that can be used throughout India. With the Zomato Pro Plus Membership, you get up to 40% discount on dining (at partner restaurants) and up to 25% discount on online food ordering from the partner restaurants. Also, since the pro membership is valid across India, it is clearly a good benefit for people who travel frequently, as they can save a lot on their dining bills. However, note that the Zomato Pro Membership is valid only till you have these credit cards, and is not a lifetime offer.
Edition Cash Earning Rate on RBL Bank Edition Credit Cards
The Edition Credit Cards reward their users with cashback. The cashback is given in the form of Edition Cash. While the Edition Classic cardholders can use the edition cash to pay for food deliveries or restaurants bills via Zomato, RBL Bank Edition Credit cardholders can also pay their credit card bill via Edition Cash. The Edition Cash earn rate for the two cards is given below.

Edition Cash is given for every Rs. 100 spent. 1 Edition Cash = Rs. 1.
As you can see, RBL Edition Black Credit Card is the clear winner when it comes to Reward Points. However, reward points alone do not justify the high annual fees (Rs. 3,000) charged by Edition credit card. The Edition Classic Card might not give as much Edition Cash but it charges only Rs. 500.
Milestone Benefits on RBL Bank Edition Credit Cards
Both variants of the RBL Edition Credit Card offer milestone benefits.
- The basic option, Edition Classic Credit Card, gives the cardholder Rs. 2,000 worth of Edition Cash on spending Rs. 2 Lakh in a year.
- Premium variant, Edition Black Credit Card, gives the same amount if the user spends Rs. 5 Lakh in a year.
- Additionally, Edition credit card also provides an annual fee waiver to customers who spend Rs. 2.5 Lakh in a year.
If we adjust the annual fee against the Edition Classic credit card’s milestone benefit of 2,000 Edition Cash, we are still left with 1,500 Edition Cash. So there is no real loss because of the absence of an annual fee waiver.
RBL Edition credit cardholders who are able to spend Rs. 5 Lakh in a year will be able to use the card judiciously because then they will save Rs. 3,000 in annual fee and earn Rs. 2,000 as a milestone benefit. However, reaching this spending mark will be a challenge for most people as it will require spending of about Rs. 41,000 per month for a period of 12 months.
Movie Benefits on RBL Bank Zomato Edition Credit Cards
The movie benefit is available only on the RBL Bank Edition Black Credit Card. The offer allows the users to get the second ticket free, up to Rs. 200, when they buy a movie ticket through BookMyShow. Note that this offer can be availed only once every month.
Travel Benefits on RBL Bank Zomato Edition Credit Cards
The travel benefits are restricted to RBL Bank Edition Black Credit Card only. Cardholders can get the following benefits:
- International Lounge Access – Complimentary Priority Pass Membership and 2 free visits per year at lounges located overseas. Do note, to avail of Priority Pass membership cardholders will have to put in a request with RBL Bank.
- Domestic Lounge Access – 2 free domestic lounge visit every calendar quarter
- Foreign Currency Mark-up Fee – The card charges only 1.50% as Foreign Exchange Markup fee which is quite impressive. Other cards that charge low forex markup fee may not be for everybody as they belong to premium or super-premium category of credit cards.
Limitations of RBL Bank Zomato Edition Credit Cards
RBL Bank credit cards are designed for frequent diners. Thus, people who don’t dine out frequently or don’t prefer using Zomato app won’t find much use of this credit card. Other limitations of the credit card are:
- Instead of offering direct cashback, the cards offer the Edition cash which is useful only on Zomato, if you have the Edition Classic card. Further, if you have the Edition Black credit card, you can use the edition cash on Zomato and to pay credit card bills.
- The facility to use Edition Cash to pay credit card bill is restricted to Edition Black credit card only. The Bank should have extended this benefit to the Edition Classic credit card as well.
- There is no annual fee waiver on the Edition Classic credit card.
- Edition Black Credit Card offers a discount of only Rs. 200 on Buy One Get One Free movie ticket offer, which is not really a good discount
Which One Should You Choose – Edition Classic or Edition Black Credit Card?
The main difference between the two credit cards is in terms of the annual fee. Edition Black Credit Card charges Rs. 1,499 +GST whereas Edition Classic Credit Card charges Rs. 500 + GST. However, the RBL Edition credit card delivers quite a lot of benefits and justifies its price.
You can consider the Edition Classic Credit Card if you are able to spend Rs. 2 Lakh in a year as then you will get Rs. 2,000 worth of Edition Cash that can be spent on Zomato. There are not many credit cards in this price range that offer such benefits.
RBL Edition Black Credit Card, on the other hand, is a premium card. People who frequently travel, both domestically as well as internationally will be able to reap the maximum benefits of this card. This is because the card offers lounge access, and a low foreign mark-up fee of 1.50% only. Occasional diners who don’t travel a lot or don’t use credit cards frequently may refrain from getting this credit card.
